As part of the exhibition “Painting still alive… On the way to modernity” accompanying the 26th edition of EnergaCAMERIMAGE, art installations by Jakob Mattner were presented in Contemporary Art Center in Toruń. Mattner was born in 1946 and studied sculpture in Berlin, Italy and Paris. The artist in his work, experiments with sculpture, light installations, painting behind glass and on paper, as well as collotypes. At the Centre of Contemporary Art in Toruń, his two monumental spatial installations Second Planet and Transit were exhibited, which he built on site, specifically for the exhibition, using foil for front projection and light phenomena captured by the foil. The installations were accompanied by paintings by Jakob Mattner from the series Der ferne Klang (The Distant Sound) and Helios Negative (Negatives of the Sun), which were an overture for large installations, fitted onto wall blocks, with 12 and 48 paintings on each. The publication accompanying the exhibition contains a selection of works and commentary by Anna Maigler. Publication in Polish, English and German.
