Marian Kutzner Opuscula

Marian Kutzner Opuscula is a collection of 27 scientific works (published from the 1960s to 2014) dealing with architecture and medieval art in Poland and Europe, as well as restoration and monument studies – set against a broad backdrop of cultural, social and ideological processes of the era. Insightful analyses, innovative methodological approaches, polemical nature of studies setting new directions in research in Polish medieval studies; investigating the sources of originality and traditionalism in the art of specific geographical regions (Silesia, Greater Poland, Teutonic Prussia), the semantics of group and individual works of art, as well as source identification of the technique and organization of the construction of Gothic temples, make the collection of the studies by a single author a specific quintessence of research on the Polish history of art of the last 50 years. The majority of presented studies have become canon reading in university education in the field of methodology and history of Polish art in the Middle Ages.
